ALL NATURAL Beef Stew Seasoning Mix. It tastes so much better than the packets and you get to control the flavors and the sodium. I bet you already have all the spices in your pantry! Mix up a jar and it will be ready to go anytime you want to make a big pot of stew!

I know I’m sooooooorta pushing the limits of winter here with beef stew seasoning mix. I have a beef stew recipe coming too–oh well, I’ve never claimed to be a perfect blogger. I make what sounds good! Plus, one of my readers sent me an email requesting this recipe. My taco seasoning recipe has been so popular and I don’t blame people for wanting to eat real food instead of some chemical mixture packed with sodium to make it taste semi-decent.
I gladly accepted the challenge of making an all-natural beef stew seasoning that would add great flavor to stew but still allow you to control the amount of sodium and spices. I absolutely love the way this turned out.
Updated: Check out stew I made with it.

What is in Beef Stew Seasoning Mix?
- Flour – it helps the stew thicken!
- Oregano
- Basil
- Rosemary
- Parsley
- Paprika
- Cayenne Pepper
- Celery Seed
- Onion Powder
- Salt and Pepper
These spices and herbs together make the most flavorful beef stew – you’ll be ditching the packets in no time! It works on the stovetop or in a slow cooker recipe.
As a side note, if you’re not a huge fan of pepper, make sure to read the comments! Some people find this to be too peppery. You’re only using 2-3 tablespoons of the mixture per 1 pound of stew meat and you want it to be well seasoned, so I obviously think it’s great the way it’s written! But you can always add more pepper at the end, so if you’re unsure, start with a smaller amount.

This is delicious and has become a staple at our house! It calls for a lot of pepper though. The first time I made it, everyone was sweating . Instead of 2 tablespoons of pepper we do 2 teaspoons. Is the 2T a typo?
It makes so much seasoning and the beef really benefits from the flavor of the spices, including the pepper. With that being said, I’m glad I found a ratio that works best for you!
Saw the post about adding garlic powder and added that. Wonderful recipe. Thanks so much-not too much pepper for us. Made a second batch to figure out how to get it right in the instant pot. My poor husband suffered through sampling a second time. LOL
So glad you liked it! I’d love to hear how you cooked it in your IP! I’ve been trying to use mine more.
I am so happy I found this spice mix. Is the celery seed ground or whole?
I use whole but ground would work great too.
Thank you MIss Rachel,
I’m trying it right now. The house smells like Stew Heaven!

So happy to hear that!
My son is gluten for medical reasons…so absolutely NO gluten. Any suggestions for an alteration to make this gluten free? Has anyone made this as “gluten free”? Thanks, Angela
I haven’t tried making it gluten free — I think you could use almond flour or cornstarch (a smaller amount of cornstarch probably). Let us know if you try it and how it turns out!
I have made it gluten free. I use a gf flour mix which works well. I am in NZ so you probably can’t get the brand where you are, As its a wee bit of thickening, corn starch, tapioca starch or rice flour would work as well I imagine. It’s worth persevering to find one…. This makes an absolutely beautiful stew or casserole. Best I’ve ever had.
I’m so happy to hear that!
Best beef stew seasoning ever. I mix up large batches of it so I always have it on hand.
So glad you like it!
I love hot food but 2 tablespoons for this recipe is way too much, i even used 1 tablespoon and it was still too much. I am pretty sure its supposed to be 2 teaspoons i bet.
Im trying this recipe with some venison tonight! I will have to follow up with how it is
Hope it turned out great!
Has any one tried this spice on wild meat. Moose or venison.
I have not personally tried that but I think it would be great!
Trying the venison sigh it tonight.
I hope you love it!
Trying tonight with venison
Enjoy!
Been awhile since i made beef stew and decided to take a look on computer for recipe. I followed this spice recipe and i hate to say but we couldn’t eat the stew. The flavor and smell were awful. I checked to make sure i had followed exactly and i had. Don’t understand when everyone else is putting how good it was…:( very dissapointing.
Sorry you didn’t have success – we love this seasoning and it’s gotten a lot of positive reviews!
