Seasoned Grilled Potatoes Recipe
Complete your barbecued meal with these easy and flavorful seasoned grilled potatoes. They have the perfect amount of spice and can cook on your grill with your other food.

The goal for a grilled meal is to not have to do any actual cooking inside, right? So often, Ben is outside manning the grill and I’m inside making a few sides to go with dinner. Wouldn’t it be ideal to all be hanging out outside, watching the kids play, sipping a cool drink, and creating a complete meal on the grill?
Maybe the ladies can even “man” the grill for upcoming Fathers’ Day dinners. Steak, these seasoned grilled potatoes, and perhaps a grilled vegetable salad? Dinner, done. Add this grilled pineapple with caramel toffee crunch ice cream for an extra special treat.
When I created this recipe, I wanted these potatoes to have a kind of barbecue feel so I grabbed a bunch of spices from my spice cupboard to concoct a spice-rub of sorts, similar to something you’d put on chicken, beef or steak. I was going to call these spice-rubbed potatoes, but since there’s no actual rubbing involved, I went with seasoned grilled potatoes. Although you may be rubbing your satisfied belly after eating these. That was cheesy. Moving on…
Out of my cupboard and into my spice “rub” goes paprika, chili powder, onion powder, garlic powder, and of course, salt and pepper. I keep it super simple because I didn’t want you to have to run out and get any crazy strange spices. You should have all the ingredients in your pantry already (but if you don’t…you know you could always head to Meijer and grab them…).
The spice mixture is perfect for the blank canvas of the potato. Just the right amount of spice, but not overpowering, or leaving your mouth on fire. If you’re into having your mouth on fire (I’m not, I’m a total wuss about spice), a bit of cayenne powder would be tasty added to the spices.
Sour cream and chives are optional but highly recommended.

- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1 1/2 teaspoons paprika
- 3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 3/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 3/4 teaspoon chili powder
- 3/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 3 large Russet potatoes, scrubbed and sliced into 1/4 inch slices
- In a small bowl, mix together salt, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, and pepper.
- In a zip-top bag, shake potatoes with all other ingredients until coated evenly.
- Grill, covered, medium or medium-low for 10-15 minutes or until tender on outside and crispy on outside.
