This healthy orange creamsicle is a great summertime treat – Greek yogurt makes the creamsicle a fantastic snack!
More popsicles, as promised!
It should come as no surprise that I’ve created a healthy orange creamsicle popsicle. I’m obsessed with all things orange creamsicle. I just love the tartness of the orange combined with the smooth sweetness of the vanilla. It’s an irresistible combo.
(If you need proof of my obsession, refer to orange creamsicle popcorn, magic shell, cookie bars, buttercream, aaaand a smoothie. If I start making orange creamsicle chicken or something wacko, just call my husband and get me checked into an orange creamsicle treatment facility.)
I’ve mentioned it before, but my son (N) is a horribly picky eater. My daughter eats evvvvverything, but little man couldn’t possibly be any more picky.
However, let me tell you! THESE POPSICLES WERE A HIT. He sat at the table for about an hour working on his popsicle. I could hardly believe my eyes. The best part was, he was getting a great dose of protein since this popsicle is mainly composed of Greek yogurt. YES. Score one for mom. N just thinks he’s getting a special treat.
For this healthy orange creamsicle recipe, I use vanilla Greek yogurt to get a head-start on that creamsicle flavor. I add orange zest and vanilla bean paste. Now, if you don’t have vanilla bean paste you can substitute a combination of vanilla bean extract and vanilla beans. Ooooor if you don’t have vanilla beans, you can get by with just extract. But I love being able to see the little specks of vanilla.
The mixture is thick before you put it into the molds, so I use a piping bag to neatly get the mixture into the molds. You could also put it in a ziplock bag and just cut off the corner – it will act in the same way a piping bag does. After you fill the molds, give them a few good taps on the countertop to remove any bubbles. This will ensure you have a nice smooth popsicle without any pockets of air.
I also add a tiny bit of orange food coloring but it’s not at all necessary – I just like to give the creamsicles that classic orange color.

Ingredients
- 1 cup nonfat vanilla Greek yogurt
- 2 teaspoons orange zest (from one orange)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste
- optional: orange food coloring
Instructions
- Mix together yogurt, orange zest, and vanilla bean paste in a small bowl until combined. If desired, add enough orange food coloring to achieve desired color.
- Fill popsicle molds (I use a piping bag for this).
- Tap on counter to remove bubbles for a nice smooth result.
- Freeze until solid, or about 4 hours.
Notes
- If you don’t have vanilla bean paste, substitute 1 teaspoon vanilla extract + seeds scraped from one vanilla bean (or you may use just vanilla extract).
- Yield depends on size of popsicle molds.

Actually, chicken in a creamy orange sauce isn’t a bad idea. Calling it creamsicle chicken might turn a few heads though haha Anyway, I love using Greek yogurt in my pops too to make it healthier.

Smart move with using a piping bag to get the mixture into molds. I always end up getting it all over half my counter ;) I’m not at all surprised that your kids couldn’t resist this recipe! And we’re finally getting some truly hot days around here, where they’ll need a cool-down treat :)

So smart to make these with Greek yogurt. I have yet to try the vanilla bean paste but I can see where it would add amazing flavor to these popsicles. Great summer treat!
