Popcorn options:
Microwave popcorn: Choose a plain or lightly salted microwave popcorn. 10 cups of popped popcorn is about the amount in a 3.29-ounce bag of microwave popcorn, so if you want to season the whole bag, double the measurements in the seasoning mixtures.
Hot air popper: ½ cup kernels makes 15 to 16 cups popcorn.
Stovetop or microwave popper: If you want to only pop 4 to 5 cups of popcorn and have the means to do so (stovetop or microwave popper), you’ll need 2 to 3 tablespoons of kernels.
Oil spray: If desired, use an oil spray (olive oil, avocado oil, etc.) instead of butter or oil. We tested it and it provides a nice even coating, allowing the seasonings to stick to the popcorn well.Make ahead: Seasoning mixes can be made in larger quantities and stored in an airtight container at room temperature. For the Italian garlic seasoning, omit Parmesan cheese until ready to serve.
