It’s hard to believe that Christmas is in a little over a week! Despite the craziness, Christmas time is my favorite time of the year, so the fact that it’s quickly approaching is both happy and bittersweet. Ben has been sick for over a week and E had it too, so I’m praying we’re healthy for Christmas.

We just celebrated N’s birthday (a little early) with family and it was such a wonderful time together. He’s an incredibly happy-go-lucky, kind-hearted boy and I’m so blessed to be his mom. I just can’t believe he’s FIVE. Someone slow down time for me?

As a side note, the picture above is him blowing out his candles. That’s probably obvious. What might not be obvious is my decision to make simple cakes. I used to do fancy cakes and piped frosting on cupcakes for every birthday, but for the past few years I’ve done a simple 9×13 cake and I’ve let the kids go crazy decorating it with sprinkles.

They love doing it, I love not stressing out over baking a fancy cake, and it tastes exactly the same to guests. I focus my energy on making more delicious food and making my kids happy. Talk about a win-win, right?

Now, here’s what’s poppin’…

Currently binging on Netflix: Gossip Girl. I know, I’m 5 years behind per usual. I can’t get enough of the drama, though.

Gift idea: I love this chic but not too girly bluetooth speaker! I think it’s destined for our basement when the remodel is finished.

Randomly came to my mind: Don’t you think POGS should make a comeback? I think some old school fun would be good for our kiddos.

Making me laugh way too hard: This print.

Gift idea for the girl that has everything: I love this cute mug!

Around the web – perfect holiday recipes!

  • 5 Minute 5 Ingredient Chocolate Pecan Fudge
  • Easiest 1 Hour Roast Beef
  • or something a little fancier…Chorizo Beef Wellington with Cilantro Pesto
  • Chocolate Kiss Cookies (love the sprinkles on these!)
  • The most perfect looking Peppermint Cupcakes
  • Maple Cranberry and Dark Chocolate Scones
  • Shredded Cabbage Salad with Apples and Curry – because we need something besides sweets and beef!

Probably smells amazing: This candle is one of my favorite smells, I bet it’s amazing!

Discovered you are all Friends fans: When I found out how much you all loved this print, I knew I had to share this fun one with you too.
