Need a snack that takes 5 minutes to make and will keep you full for hours? This superfood healthy trail mix recipe is what you need. Bonus: It includes chocolate chips.
Last weekend, we went to Northern Michigan and spent a few days at Treetops Resort (I’ll tell you more about it soon). We had an absolute blast and introduced the kids to nearly every winter sport you can think of. Well, maybe not quite, but we were on the go and outside almost the entire time.
I didn’t have any bags of this healthy trail mix along, but boy, do I wish I would have! It would have been the perfect thing to munch on to regain energy and keep going all day long.
Superfoods – everyone wants them these days. With superfoods in mind, I created this trail mix to not only be delicious but also to be packed full of nutrition, flavor, and protein.
One of the hardest parts of healthy eating is having ideas at the ready when hunger hits. When snack time hits, it so often derails the diet. Am I the only one who has snuck into the kitchen, opened the cupboards and nibbled secretly straight out of the chocolate chip bag? (Please say I’m not!)
Still feeling snacky?

Husband’s take: I think I may have hoarded this for myself.
Changes I would make: None are necessary but feel free to add different nuts or dried fruit.
Difficulty: Ridiculously easy.

Great snack! Especially I like blueberries in this recipe. We should eat them as often as possible. They have a lot of antioxidants. Have you heard about ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) it’s the measure of antioxidant activity of food. Blueberries have 13 427 ORAC in one cup. We should eat 3 000 – 5 000 ORAC every day. One handful of blueberries covers our requirement.

I’ve made my own trail mixes. Great way to control the ingredients and tailor to ones own taste.
