Today’s “a day in the life” is the hilarious Jessica of The Novice Chef.

Jessica’s blog is one of my favorites because of her funny stories, her beautiful photographs, and the wide variety of recipes she features. Not to mention the fact that she’s a total sweetheart!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here’s a little more info about Jessica:
Jessica Segarra is the author-baker-cook-photographer behind The Novice Chef. Her first cookbook (Mini Donuts) is set to release on November, 18th 2012 and her second cookbook (Cereal Sweets & Treats) will be released in 2013. Jessica was born and raised in Texas, but currently lives in Jacksonville, Florida with her husband Jorge and five rescue pets.
Take me through your day.
8:00am Wake up! I am not a morning person!
8:30am Take Brody (my dog) for a walk and eat breakfast. I also use this time to catch up with instagram, twitter and FB.
9:00am Get started on my task for the day…which can be anything from shooting the recipes I made the day before to developing recipes for my upcoming cookbooks.
1:00pm I usually eat lunch around one…it may be whatever I am testing that day, or something like cereal. It’s whatever I can grab easily. During this time I also like to catch up on my favorite blogs and play around on social media and pinterest.
4:00pm This is usually about the time I sit down for some catching up time. I answer emails, blog comments and Facebook questions. I also try to schedule any random conference calls that come up during this time.
5:00pm I start trying to figure out dinner!
6:00pm Jorge gets home and we have dinner together. We usually spend the rest of the night spending quality time together. It won’t be just the two of us forever, so we like to enjoy the time we have!
9:00pm If I am going to write a post, it usually happens late in the day. Earlier in the afternoon I will have edited my photos and typed up the recipe, but I don’t actually write the post until much later!
11:00pm Bath time! My big tub and a book are my favorite way to end the day, always.
12:30 am Is about the time I go to bed…some days it will be earlier, some days later. I am generally a night owl and I like to get about 8 hours of sleep!
What is your one must-have kitchen tool or gadget?
A garlic press. I LOVE garlic! And I love that a garlic press gets all the juices!
What is your favorite part of your day? Why?
Dinner time! The food is always great, but the company is even better.
What is your LEAST favorite part of the day?
Doing dishes from recipe testing!!
If you could choose one room in your house to spend the WHOLE day in, which room would it be? Why?
If I could choose a room, it would be my office/studio room. Luckily I already spend about half of my day in there anyways! It’s full of things that get my creative juices flowing…plus it’s in bright colors and the walls are a sunny yellow.
What is your favorite day of the week? Why?
Saturday! Because I usually don’t have any work responsibilities!
If you could travel anywhere in the world for free, where would you go and how long would you stay?
Europe! I would want to stay at least 2 weeks and travel all over!
What is your favorite quote or verse?
Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
What recipe on your blog are you most proud of?
I am proud of a lot of them! But my most recent Pumpkin Dream Cake was pretty amazing!
What recipe on your blog do your readers seem to love most?
Lately it has been the Spicy Avocado Chicken Enchiladas. The picture is horrible, but people are still crazy for those enchiladas!
What have you found to be the most challenging part of blogging?
Well, lately it’s been keeping to a blogging schedule while writing back to back cookbooks! I just can’t find enough time in the day.
Who would you like to see featured here in the future?
Tina from My Life As A Mrs. or Lauren from Lauren’s Latest!
Is there anything else you would like to tell the world about yourself?
My mother called me Grace because I have none. It’s a challenge to not trip over my own two feet on a daily basis!
    Loved this interview. Jessica is amazing, love every single thing she does. I was lucky enough to meet her in person at a conference. She is as gorgeous and sweet in person. Love her to bits. Can’t wait to see her cookbook.
