Stardust Dazzler {and a cocktail party!}

When BACARDI® Mixers asked me to throw a cocktail party that featured their frozen mixers, my first thought was, “What is a cocktail party?” Being deep in the throes of motherhood with a toddler and a new baby, a cocktail party seems like a foreign concept.

What isn’t foreign to me is the play date. Yes…play dates are something I know very well. Play dates at the zoo, play dates at a friend’s house, play dates at the park, play dates at the library, play dates at the mall…the list goes on.  Play dates are my “cocktail party” these days.

So what did I do? Combined the two. Okay don’t judge quite yet. I feel the need to say that we were of course very responsible, limited it to one drink, and made responsible driving choices. That all should be obvious since we love our kids more than life itself, but I don’t want y’all to think I’m condoning heavy drinking at play dates. Although sometimes we may feel like doing that—we never do.

Okay! Now that that is out of the way, let’s move on. I was going to have just the moms over one night for a real(ish) cocktail party, but it is nearly impossible to coordinate an evening event and the kids love playing together so this was a win-win for everyone.

Our party took place at lunch time, but we indulged on various appetizers and of course the custom cocktail that BACARDI® Mixers created for me: The Stardust Dazzler. Isn’t that a fun name? We filled out a survey regarding our style, our likes and dislikes, etc. Based on that info, BACARDI® Mixers created a cocktail customized to our tastes.  This cocktail represents my classic style (aka I can’t follow trends for the life of me) and my love of lemon drops. This cocktail is spritzy, refreshing, sweet and tangy all at the same time. It quickly became a new favorite. It uses BACARDI® Mixers Margarita Mix which can be found in the freezer section at your grocery store. It is easy to make and it makes four servings all at once. Win!

You might be asking yourself, “Why should I take up valuable freezer space with a drink mixer when I could easily just store one in my pantry or liquor cabinet?” Well, most BACARDI® Mixers are made with real fruit juice, and therefore have a fresher taste when compared to shelf-stable competitors. You can use three of the core flavors (Margarita, Strawberry Daiquiri, and Piña Colada) to easily create not only the traditional drinks that the names indicate but also fun creations such as the Stardust Dazzler.  I have the Strawberry Daiquiri and Piña Colada Mixers waiting for me in the freezer for that moment when we have an impromptu get-together or need for a flavorful, fun summer drink. They are non-alcoholic mixers so they are flexible to satisfy everyone at your party. BACARDI® Mixers will help to bring together your get together.

swag

I pulled this party together with great gift bags! Complete with some BACARDI® Mixers swag, I added a few fun things I knew my guests would love. And let’s talk food! This is important. I served a variety of appetizers and my guests also brought an appetizer to share. I made Roasted Grape and Ricotta Crostini, Roasted Garlic White Bean Dip (with an assortment of crackers and vegetables for dipping), spinach dip, crispy baked ravioli, caprese skewers, fruit salad, cookie dough dip, and some yummy M&M cookies. Oh…and some mac &cheese for the kids.

We had a blast tasting the food, watching the kids play, and sipping on these pretty cocktails. If you threw a cocktail party, what would you serve?
