Last week Thursday, approximately 120 students entered the kitchen at their high school with the hopes of creating a prize-winning pizza. This pizza cook-off inspired the students to make creative, great tasting pizzas worthy of your votes! I was so impressed by what they all came up with. We saw such innovative pizza recipes.

Here are just a few of the great concoctions: Piece of the Middle East Pizza, BBQ Chicken Pizza with a hint of Pizza, Shrimp Scampi Pizza, White Spinach Pizza, Shrimp Pizza, BLT Pizza, Cheesy Tomato and Basil Pizza, Chicken Avocado Pizza, Crazy Veggie Pizza and Alfredo Pizza.

I loved the energy and excitement in the kitchen and I really was blown away by the combinations they created.

The students were motivated not only by the desire to create the best pizza and win the competition against their peers, but also by a phenomenal prize package that was generously donated by a number of sponsors. The prize package is valued at over $300 and contains all the basics for a starter kitchen: a frying pan, a microplane, bowls, cookbooks, towels, measuring spoons and cups, a couple of aprons and more!

Follow the links to take a look at each one of the recipes (recipes are written by them, with some assistance from the teacher of the class), and pick which group you think did the best job. Keep in mind taste (imagine it or make it!), appearance and creativity when you’re choosing your favorite pizza. Then come on back here to vote for your favorite pizza!

All pizzas were made with an identical crust using Red Star Yeast and California Olive Ranch Olive Oil (crust recipe here). There was also a Blendtec blender available for use as needed. The blender was generously donated by Blendtec and will stay in the classroom for many more classes to use.
