Tell me about yourself and how you started food blogging.

Cooking became a more significant part of my life when I was in college and then eventually when Bjork and I got married and I actually had “a family” to cook for. I’ve always enjoyed food but it was during those young adult years that I really started to try more things in the kitchen and get excited about not just the eating but the cooking as well. Full time blogging was never a dream that I had when I started my blog – I don’t even think I really understood that that was a “thing”. I just started my blog so I could have a place to share recipes and photos other than Facebook. I actually had always dreamed of being a teacher, so it feels weird to be at this point where I’m walking away from my lifelong first dream to a more recent second dream that has surfaced within the last few years! :)

Take me through your day.

Let me just say this: I don’t really have a typical day, but I have typical “days” – so I have Post Days (days when I get up earlier to write posts), Cooking Days (days where I really emphasize stocking up on new recipes and photography), Meeting Days (days when I have lots of meetings or Bjork and I need to work together at the office to plan stuff), and Work Days (days where I really focus on the “desk” part of the job). Each of those sort of has its own schedule.

This schedule is sort of a meshing of all four types of days. :)Bjork-and-Lindsay-About-Page

What have you learned since you began blogging?

It’s a marathon, not a sprint.

What have you found to be the most challenging part of blogging?

Comparison. It’s really hard not to compare yourself to other bloggers in a world where we all try to put our best selves forward all the time.

Do you have any advice for someone who is interested in cooking or food blogging?

Don’t do it for the money – do it for the love of food and the love of blogging! There is definitely money to be made, but it’s just so rare to get that right out of the gate. You need to be willing to work for free for a while, so do it for the love! :)
